QC and CUNY pre-law resources

Pre-law advising, the Legal Studies minor and clubs. Part of Get ready, for law school.

Queens Hall on the Queens College campus

Start with QC's pre-law advisor, who sits in the Academic Advising Center, and the Legal Studies minor, whose three required courses also count toward the major.

ClubsThe pre-law page mentions a Legal Studies Club that meets monthly. Model UN, the Political Science Club and QC Future 1Ls are listed on UKnighted. The Political Science Club lists mock trials among its activities, and PSCI 288 covers mock trial and moot court.
A warning about research programsThe CUNY Pipeline Program, Leadership Alliance and Big Ten SROP exclude students headed to law school.
ScholarshipsFill out QC's General Application every semester; one award in it, the Swimmer Scholarship, gives preference to students interested in law. The Political Science department's Morrison Scholarship favors seniors headed to law school, and graduating seniors with a 3.75+ GPA are considered for law fellowships at the Baccalaureate ceremony. Muslim seniors headed to law school can apply to the Islamic Scholarship Fund's law track. More in Scholarships and funding.
Government and nonprofit workPaid internships with the State Attorney General, the Mayor's Office, the Supreme Court and the ACLU, plus more in Journalism, nonprofits and government.
Jobs, letters and networkingHireQC (Handshake), résumé help, free certificates, job boards and CUNY's AI tool are in Job search tools and AI. See also Recommendation letters and Building a network.
