Start here: graduate school

This path covers funded PhDs and policy master's for any Queens College Political Science major who is even curious about graduate school. You don't need to be sure yet. Most of these programs exist to help you find out.
Three ground rules
- Good research programs pay you. Almost everything here is free and comes with a stipend, housing, or both. Be skeptical of programs that charge you to "do research."
- Deadlines move every year. Confirm on the official page before you plan around a date.
- Apply to more than one. These programs are competitive, and a rejection says little about you.
Take the methods courses earlyPSCI 200 (Research Skills) and an intro statistics course such as PSYCH 107 or DATA 205. Either one also counts toward the Data Analytics minor.
Ask for research assistant workNo office posts it. Pick one or two professors whose work you understand, and email what you read, what skill you bring and how many hours you have.
Get credit for it.
QC's political science internship courses give credit for urban politics, law and advocacy, and international politics placements. CUNY's Rogowsky Internship Program places juniors and seniors in government for 3–12 credits.
Undocumented or an international student?
Emory SOAR says it accepts undocumented and international students. MIT MSRP accepts international students with a visa and work authorization. RBSI, MIT and Michigan also take DACA recipients.
