LSAT and fees
One LSAT plus CAS and six school reports costs about $740 before prep. If money is tight, apply for the LSAC fee waiver at least six months before your first test.

The LSAC fee waiver
Based on income and assets. Income limits run from 150% to 300% of the federal poverty guidelines, depending on the tier and whether your parents' income counts. Tier 1 covers 2 LSATs with Writing and Score Preview, CAS, 6 law school reports and LawHub Advantage; Tier 2 covers 1 LSAT, CAS, 3 reports and LawHub Advantage. The LSAT and CAS benefits last two years; LawHub Advantage lasts one year. US citizens, permanent residents, DACA recipients, asylum seekers and TPS holders are eligible. Apply, and ask each law school whether it waives its own fee too.
Free and low-cost prep
LawHubThe free tier includes full official practice tests. Khan Academy's free LSAT course ended June 30, 2024; its content moved here.
LawHub AdvantageThe paid tier with many more official tests, included with LSAC Plus and the fee waiver.
AccessLex LexPreLawKaplan LSAT prep, admissions counseling and financial help for 150 underrepresented applicants a year. You need an LSAT score already, at or below the 25th percentile. The 2027 application opens in March.
The GRE optionETS's list includes NYU, Columbia, Fordham, Brooklyn, Cardozo, St. John's, Pace, Hofstra and Touro. CUNY Law is not on it.
